Portelli’s practice
centers on the relationship between fashion and identity and tend to
criticize the ‘fashion victim attitude’. Her most recent
work is a series of computer manipulated photographs, originally stohlen
from fashion magazines in which she erases the clothes. Taking away
the main vehicle of the otherwise exchangeable appearance of fashions
models, she leaves behind anonymous and bodyless men and woman.
For window 42, she
chose an enlarged version of those manipulations. Printed on transparent
paper, her work becomes a constat for the emptiness of those images.
